What Happened to Black Death Ultra Sours? The Truth Behind the Name Change
If you’ve been following the #SourChallenge on TikTok or hunting for the most extreme sweets in the world, you’ve likely heard of Black Death Ultra Sours. They are legendary, they are "mouth-watering" (in a literal sense), and they’ve become a staple for candy daredevils at our Oak Park shop.
Recently, you may have noticed a change on our shelves and online. The familiar black packaging is still there, but the name looks a little different.
Introducing: Black Ultra Sours
To stay compliant with US trademark regulations, we have officially rebranded this Mr Simms UK classic to Black Ultra Sours on our web store.
We know what you’re thinking: Is it the same candy? The answer is a resounding YES. Same recipe, same "face-melting" intensity! While the name on the website has changed, the candy inside the bag is exactly the same recipe that made the Mr Simms name famous across the Atlantic.
The Initial Blast: You still get that notorious 20-second acidic coating that makes even seasoned sour lovers crumble.
The Flavor: It still features that hidden zesty lemon center and fizzy finish.
The Origin: These are still authentic imports from Mr Simms in the UK.
Why the Change?
Navigating the world of international candy imports can be tricky! A company in the US holds the trademark for the term "Black Death" in the candy category. To ensure we can keep bringing these treats to our Candycopia fans without any legal hiccups, we made the proactive choice to update our listing to Black Ultra Sours.
Join the Challenge
Whether you call them Black Death or Black Ultra Sours, the mission remains the same: survive the 20-second pucker.
